2010 was the 2500th anniversary of the Battle of Marathon, Greece, recognized as one of the most important battles in human history and the first defense of a new form of government called “Democracy’ that was being birthed in Athens Greece.

To celebrate this important occasion, the 26.2 Foundation orchestrated a visit of 100 marathoners from Marathon, Greece, the twin city of Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Greek runners were hosted by families from Hopkinton, Ashland, Milford and Holliston.  Many personal relationships were formed during the 6-day visit.
