The 26.2 Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1996. Its mission is to promote and support the sport of marathoning, as well as health, wellness and economic development initiatives through strategic investments in innovative, multi-generational programs on local, regional, national and global levels.


Bobbi Gibb Marathon Sculpture Project

Update, Autumn 2020: The clay has dried, the sculpture delivered to the foundry, the mold made, the bronze cast. Final finishing by the team at Buccacio Sculpture Services in Canton, MA is all that remains to be done before ‘The Girl Who Ran’ is unveiled and installed on the Boston Marathon race course in downtown Hopkinton.

International Marathon Center

The Hopkinton, Massachusetts Select Board announced that the 26.2 Foundation is the winner of the competitive bid process to build and operate an International Marathon Center (IMC) in town. The IMC is to include a museum, hall of fame, an auditorium, conference and event space, exhibition halls, as well as education and research space. Learn more >>


Team Inspire

Each year, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) awards select local-area nonprofits with invitational entries to the Boston Marathon. In return for the bibs, team runners develop individual fund-raising campaigns that provide critical support for those organizations. In 2020, the program raised no less than $32.1 million in charitable giving, for no fewer than 242 nonprofit organizations. Learn more >>
