The International Marathon Center Trails

Welcome Trail Explorers!
Koonepeam!

Our new trail system is on the site of the planned International Marathon Center and the original lands of the Native American Nipmuc people.

As you walk or run the trails, we share our vision for the future alongside stories of the past. Please take the time to enjoy this very unique place… it’s ancient history and exciting future…

A Place With a Past
and a Future

The International Marathon Center will be the first of its kind dedicated to honoring the history, culture and impact of the marathon, welcoming the local community and visitors, athletes, runners, historians, students and wellness advocates to experience and enjoy immersive exhibits, innovative programs and vibrant community spaces.

These trails will be a part of the IMC experience and aim to celebrate and honor the people that originally occupied this land. The Nipmuc (Nipmuck) are the Indigenous “Fresh Water People” of central Massachusetts and parts of northeastern Connecticut. For thousands of years, they lived in seasonal wigwam villages, farming, fishing, hunting, and caring for the lands and waters of this region.

The International
